Construction work on track and field improvements at our five high schools will be staggered to minimize disruption to athletics, activities, and physical education classes. Planning is underway to coordinate places for students to practice and play while this work is completed.

Installation of the artificial turf on the practice/PE fields at Homestead High School began on Wednesday, March 24. There will be two practice fields side by side with the solar array between them. These fields will be used for soccer, field hockey, band practice, etc. HHS Assistant Principal Don Romero provided the pictures of the beginning installation — some were taken from the bridge over 280. Business/ROP Teacher Edmond Kwong provided four photos taken Monday, March 29. Amazing progress in just a few days.

CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

JULY 2009  The District received approval from the Department of State Architect for Phase One on the Homestead High School tracks and fields project on Thursday, July 31st. Work will begin next week following a similar trajectory as Fremont High. Phase One at Homestead includes all the fields west of where the new football field/bleachers will eventually be constructed. Completion of Phase One will provide the new baseball, softball and multi-use fields to the site by late 2009 or early 2010.

While  we are all extremely excited about the positive impact of this project for our students and community, we are also aware that the noise and dust can be a concern. The District and our contractor Robert A. Bothman, Inc. are committed to minimizing the impact on our neighbors and want this to be as positive a process as possible.
