New SAT Reasoning Test
The new version of the SAT college entrance exam had the largest score decline in three decades this year in California and across the country, but scores went up at four of the five high schools in the Fremont Union High School District. Scores reflect the use of a new test that includes higher-level math, more critical-reading demands, and the addition of a writing exam. For the class of 2006 nationwide, Mathematics scores dipped by 2 points to 518, returning to the level of two years ago and average critical reading scores (verbal) decreased 5 points to 503.

The new SAT Reasoning Test™
was administered for the first time in
March 2005. Changes to the test include the addition of third-year college preparatory math, more critical reading, and a new writing section. The College Board made these changes to better reflect what students study in high school.
