United Way Volunteer Star!

Cupertino High School Student Shana Hemmady chosen as a United Way Star Volunteer!

During National Volunteer Week, as a way to honor its most dedicated volunteers, United Way Silicon Valley selects a group of volunteers to be "Stars of the Week." These volunteers go above and beyond the scope of volunteerism and the United Way is honored to be able to highlight them this year.

Shona is a true volunteer star! Her dedication and experience to community service at such a young age is truly inspiring.

As a Summer Intern in the United Way Silicon Valley office, Shona helped with a variety of different tasks throughout the organization. She was a true asset to the team and brought so much creativity and positive energy every day.

Outside of her internship with United Way, Shona is very active in the community. At her high school she serves as the President of many service and leadership clubs and organizes blood drives and community service events for her classmates at local non-profits. She also teaches Indian classical dance to kids weekly at a dance studio for free.

You can tell Shona volunteers 100% from her heart. She is extremely committed and passionate about serving her community and we all know she will achieve big things in her future. Thank you, Shona, for creating opportunities and inspiring hope for a better tomorrow.
