FUHSD and El Camino Hospital present "A Healthy Mind: A Discussion with Parents on Teen Mental Health"

In connection with our ongoing support of student mental wellness, and pursuant to Education Code 215 as added by Assembly Bill 2246, FUHSD is adding supports to our practice addressing student suicide prevention and intervention. The District is also continuing the third year of our partnership with El Camino Hospital in connection with this effort.

On Thursday, Jan. 4, Dr. Glenn Teeter along with Dr. Kelly Troiano will present an evening for parents designed to continue to bring awareness and education to the community around teen mental wellness. Topics that will be explored include the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions, suicide prevention education, opportunities to communicate in a healthy way with teens, insights on how your primary care doctor can support your family, and most importantly, knowing when and how to reach out for help. There will be an opportunity for Q&A during the session.

Registration required, as seating is limited. Call 800-216-5556 or visit www.elcaminohospital.org/healthymindteens to register.

This presentation, along with student assemblies focusing on suicide prevention education, will be provided at each of our campuses over the course of the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. The next parent presentation will be at Cupertino High School on Monday, March 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. While the District will provide specific advertisement for each school, all of the presentations are open to families across the district.

Join us on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Fremont High School in the Shannon Theatre as FUHSD continues the conversation on teen mental health. If you have any questions ,please contact Assistant Superintendent Trudy Gross at (408) 522-2203 or trudy_gross@fuhsd.org.
