ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS

The Federal No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act requirements measure the academic success of a school or district according to how well it meets common performance targets. Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for high school districts is based primarily on 10th grade students taking the CAHSEE. For the schools and the district, the whole group and numerically significant subgroups must meet both "participation" and "percent proficient" targets. These targets increase each year until 2014, when NCLB expects that all students and subgroups will reach 100% proficiency.

AYP by School (2010-2011)

Made AYP? Criteria Met Total Criteria
FUHSD No 21 30
Cupertino Yes 18 18
Fremont No 15 26
Homestead Yes 14 14
Lynbrook Yes 14 14
Monta Vista Yes 14 14

The number of total criteria differ for each school and each school year based on student enrollment. For the 2010-2011 school year, the district and Fremont High School did not meet all AYP targets. Cupertino, Homestead, Lynbrook, and Monta VIsta met all AYP targets.
