NEW classroom buildings and science labs are exciting projects coming in the next phase of facility upgrades under our 2008 School Bond Program. CLICK on each high school below to view projects that are planned (P), in progress (IP) or complete (C) on the campus.
• TECHNOLOGY: Upgrades under our 2008 School Bond Program are continuing. Ceiling mounted LCD projectors and speakers are being installed in all instructional spaces; a multi-year plan has been implemented to upgrade staff and student computers; and other instructional technology tools and plans are being made to install security camera systems on each site.
• SOLAR INSTALLATIONS: Solar structures have been installed in student and staff parking lots and were completed in time for the opening of school. Each year the solar panels will generate over $1,000,000 to support educational programs and reduce carbon emissions by 1,100 tons.
• COMPLETION OF ATHLETIC FIELDS: New baseball, softball and multi-use fields were completed and opened in time for football and band camps in August at Homestead and Fremont High Schools. These outdoor classrooms are first-rate facilities for physical education classes and great places to “play” for band practice and athletic teams.
• FIELD RENOVATIONS UNDERWAY: Construction began in June on the new baseball field at Cupertino High School; the new football field, bleachers and track at Homestead High School; and the main football field, bleachers and track at Fremont High School. While this work means that our teams will be playing less home games this year, they look forward to coming home to these fantastic new facilities in 2011.
