Fremont Union High School District
INTRA-DISTRICT COUNCIL
Student Leaders from Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook & Monta Vista High Schools

Intra-District Council, IDC is an organization comprised of the representatives of the five schools of the
Fremont Union High School District. Each school is represented by their ASB President and two IDC representatives.
In addition, An IDC President, the Student Board Member, and the Advisor sit on this council. IDC meets twice a month usually the first and third Mondays. The goal of IDC is to improve relations between schools, to lessen some of the rivalry that
sports create.  IDC also works to implement some of the programs that students want.  Any problems that the school’s
ASs or the students themselves have are discussed at IDC meetings.

FREMONT HIGH SCHOOL
Before Winter Break on December 12th and 13th, Fremont had their annual Winter Concert featuring the band and choir.
Winter Formal will be this Thursday the 17th. One of ASB’s fundraisers for Winter Formal was called “Take a Photo with Santa.” Various ASB members dressed up as elves and Santas to allow students to take Christmas photos with them. The event raised $150 dollars. Fremont would like to thank their guidance department for holding the financial aid guidance night. They said it was a great help. Finally, Fremont would like to invite you to their winter drama production: Romeo and Juliet. The show will be held on January 24th, 25th, and 26th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $5 at the door.

MONTA VISTA HIGH SCHOOL
Monta Vista had their Winter Showcase in December. This annual event featured the hip-hop team, dance team, and freshman lit. teacher Ms. Platte who performed a ballroom number. Last week, ASB held “Relax Week” to kick off second semester and each day was dedicated to a special event. For example, Movie/Television Day allowed students to go to a classroom at lunch and watch an episode of their favorite television show. Each classroom had a different show such as Heroes, Lost, Desperate Housewives, etc. Another day of the week was dedicated to massages; Monta Vista ASB hired professional masseuses from a vocation school to pamper students and teachers at the rally court throughout the day.
On February 2nd, Monta Vista’s chess team will be competing at a major tournament. Monta Vista would like to invite everybody in the district to their annual Saturday Night Live show, hosted by the drama department, on Friday January 25th and Saturday January 26th. The show includes a large variety of students because of open auditions and is one of the most popular productions every year. The districtwide Dodgeball Tournament will be held at Monta Vista this Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Come out to support teachers and staff! Finally, Monta Vista is hosting their IDC Exchange next Friday on the 25th,which is also the day of their Blackout Rally; they welcome any district members who would like to shadow a student and attend. I’ve sent out an e-mail invitation and it’d be great if you replied by this Friday.

HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL
Before Winter Break, Homestead’s ASB hosted a Winter Wonder Week that allowed students to loosen up and come to school dressed up as winter characters and animals. Homestead’s Winter Formal is this Friday, January 18th.
Homestead’s Jazz Choir will be competing at the annual Folsom Jazz Festival on January 26th.

CUPERTINO HIGH SCHOOL
Cupertino is hosting a Stress Free week from January 28th to February 1st. On February 8th, clubs will participate in their first Farmer’s Market. Because the new food laws only allow two “unhealthy” club days, ASB decided to use the 3rd date that was set aside as a chance to promote healthy foods. Another project underway is the Rock & Reel, a combination of student bands and student produced short films.

LYNBROOK HIGH SCHOOL
Lynbrook held their Winter Concert before break and had Winter Formal at the Decathlon Club. The four major events coming up this next month are: The annual Blacklight Rally on January 27th. A new project called Viking Idol, which is a spin-off from American Idol. The annual Sadies dance in February. Love Week, which is a week of romantic and fun events leading up to Valentines Day.
