Fremont Union High School District
INTRA-DISTRICT COUNCIL
Student Leaders from Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook & Monta Vista High Schools

Intra-District Council, IDC is an organization comprised of the representatives of the five schools of the
Fremont Union High School District. Each school is represented by their ASB President and two IDC representatives.
In addition, An IDC President, the Student Board Member, and the Advisor sit on this council. IDC meets twice a month usually the first and third Mondays. The goal of IDC is to improve relations between schools, to lessen some of the rivalry that
sports create.  IDC also works to implement some of the programs that students want.  Any problems that the school’s
ASs or the students themselves have are discussed at IDC meetings.

9/18/07 Student Board Report by JingJing Xia, Cupertino High School Senior

Homestead High School:

  • Each class has begun to prepare floats for the traditional halftime show during the Homecoming game.
  • Huge concern over the graffiti that’s been occurring this past week. There’s been multiple graffiti in the student parking lot and the tennis courts, all of which say Class of 2008 though it can be another class just trying to frame the Seniors. So Homestead is trying to clean up the messes and prevent this from reoccurring.
  • Recognition: new Dean Mr. Morse – who just transferred over from Cupertino High as a former History and Leadership teacher – students say that he has incorporated into Homestead’s atmosphere extremely well and students are appreciative of his addition to the admin team.

Fremont High School:

  • A program they would like to mention is ‘Students for Success’ which is hosted by the National Honors Society. This is a tutoring program in which you can be paired up with a member of NHS who is good at a particular subject to get help on homework and overall subjects.
  • Clubs Day is also next Friday, and for anyone who doesn’t know, Clubs Day is a chance for all clubs on campus to fundraise by selling food, and each club has to sell a different item from everyone else – which makes it a great variety for the students. There are around 65 clubs at Fremont this year, which means 65 different choices of food, and it will probably be a great success as Clubs days usually are.
  • Lastly, Fremont would like to acknowledge and thank their staff for adjusting so well to this year’s new schedule.

Monta Vista High School:

  • This Friday there will be a fundraiser at Baha Fresh for the Varsity Volleyball team to raise money for uniforms.
  • Homecoming is also underway and Monta Vista traditionally does floats to be presented during the halftime show. Their Homecoming theme is Through the Ages, which refers to Ancient Civilizations, and is coincidentally the same as Fremont’s.
  • And lastly for Monta Vista, they said that their Octagon Pie Toss, which I mentioned last time, went extremely well and they have a photo they’d like to share. And once again, money was raised for the Make a Wish Foundation.

Lynbrook:

  • An interesting new event that Lynbrook is trying to incorporate this year is a Global Awareness Week. It’s scheduled for Sepember 24 - 28 and each day would include a certain subject such as pollution, diseases, and etc. They also want to attempt an Awareness Walkathon in which while the main point of walkathons is to raise money, informational booths about global issues would be set up around the track to give participants something to read while walking.
  • Lynbrook would like to specially recognize an art teacher named Mrs. Kruk. She is actually a well known fashion designer that’s famous for her works made of candy wrappers. She’s designed for celebrities and is currently designing a jacket for a 49er. Here are some photos of her works.

Cupertino High School:

  • Finally at Cupertino, last night IDC had a meeting on Cupertino’s campus and we wanted to bring back a traditional in which an IDC rep from the previous IDC meeting’s host school would come the Board Meeting to talk about their school. So here is Cupertino IDC Rep Christine Lebar's report about Cupertino High:
    • There's a Boys Vs. Girls Rally next Friday the 28th, freshmen elections occurred last week, and Club's Fair (an event for clubs to promote themselves and attract new members) is this Friday, September 21st.
    • A student's view on the new AP Stats course: "AP Statistics? Well it's strange because we haven't actually done any math. I'm assuming some will show up sooner of later? As of now we are learning about creating and collecting data - surveys, experiments, and simulations. Nonetheless, statistics will come in very handy in the future so at least I know this class is useful whether it be for business, psychology, archeology, medicals, etc." -Mrinal Bedi, senior at Cupertino High School
    • A student's view on the new AP Chem course: "AP Chem is pretty difficult and relies 95% on self-teaching. Tests are weekly, as are quizzes, and the rest of the days are spent on labs. The new lab equipment is extremely nice though because I think the school spent money on those just for this new AP Chem class. Sweet!" -Kirby Haraguchi, senior at Cupertino High School
