CONGRATULATIONS Employees of the Year from Cupertino High School |

Stacey Stebbins thought she wanted to be a teacher in high school but was “distracted by a variety of other things.” After other pursuits, she decided to get a teaching credential. Cupertino High School was her first teaching assignment in January 1999 and she “GREATLY appreciates finding a job that she really, really loves.”
“Where would we be without Stacey this year?,” stated Kami Samaniego, Cupertino High School Principal. “She’s been our leadership teacher, coordinated our WASC efforts, corralled us for staff development, led our efforts to become a California Distinguished School, all the while teaching A.P. English and World Literature like the all-star she is. It’s phenomenal to watch her perform so beautifully in so many roles.”

Greg Merrick’s career in the District began as a student at Cupertino High School, Class of 1993. While student teaching at Cupertino High School in the 1998-1999 school year, he was hired to fill a spot in the English Department and has worked there ever since. He says, thankfully, that then Principal and current FUHSD Trustee Barbara Nunes was “willing to take a chance” on him!
“Greg is a talented, thoughtful teacher and teacher leader,” stated Kami Samaniego, Cupertino High School Principal. “His classroom is a positive, rigorous environment for students at all levels of achievement. I can always count on Greg to put students first, to work hard, and to contribute to our Tino culture. He has impressed me from the first day of school with his dedication to our students and his warmth.” |
