FUHSD students, teachers, staff, trustees and community members continued a cherished Fremont High School tradition on Aug. 31, participating in the 35th Annual Watermelon Run and braving the more than 90° heat to compete in this special event. After completing the two-mile run/walk, participants enjoyed freshly sliced watermelon with friends.
Cupertino High School has adopted a high school in Houston, Texas to help support teachers and students as they return to school after the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. The school itself was flooded and all of the students at the school were displaced, with water rising even to flood second-story apartments. Principal Tomberlain has been in contact with Principal Dr. Demetrius McCall of C.E. King High School, where staff and students are in need of supplies of all sorts—for both classroom recovery and student support. Tino’ students are putting together promotional materials for the donation drive to take place the week of Sept. 4.
Construction continues at all five high schools on the following projects:
- Lynbrook Field House and PE classroom;
- Fremont GSS and classroom building;
- Cupertino classroom and science building;
- Monta Vista classroom building; and
- Homestead Inovation Hub.
