Two years ago the Fremont Union High School District began an aggressive residency verification effort to ensure that our schools are reserved for only those students who are valid residents within the District boundaries. Through parent and community support of the residency verification process, our residency efforts have been extremely successful. To date this process has saved the District close to three million dollars. On February 26, 2008, the Board of Trustees declared NO OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR THE 2008-09 SCHOOL YEAR for our five high schools—Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook, and Monta Vista. The District will continue to experience student growth in the 2008-09 school year. School sites have already either exceeded or are nearing Board-adopted capacities; so at this time, there is no excess capacity at any of our high schools to house students who live outside the school’s attendance area.
